ASK THE BRAND: POSH FUSION

Posh Fusion is a site slowly gaining popularity among the stylish and fashion hungry women in India. They are trying to close the gap between the uptown labels and Indian
market with their trendy and chic merchandise from beautiful gowns, dresses, casual wear to retail products from many brands around the world. Today we ask them to share their experience with social media and of course the blogging world!

Tell us about Posh Fusion and its inception?

PoshFusion’s inception goes back to our long term dream of our love for fashion and taking it to the place of birth where there is a real need for accessibility of the western designer labels. As we travelled back to India we noticed it was considerably harder to find any western designers we carry and many other brands were very scarce (only in large metropolitans). PoshFusion was literally our way of responding to this gap by ‘fusing’ European and American designs with Indian culture- encompassing things like Bollywood celebrity fashion, trends and beauty tips.

Our desire is for people in the US to be able to purchase and ship fashion related gifts to loved ones in India and vice versa- hence our ability to ship to both countries. This will allow us to provide a seamless and robust online shopping experience to our customers in India as well as in US who intend to buy and ship to someone in India and serve as a major competitive differentiator in the market.

What are your thoughts on social media in the retail industry (bloggers, Facebook, twitter, etc.)?

We think social media is a very useful and necessary tool for online retail in general. These days with the explosive adoption of social media tools such as Facebook, twitter, and other fashion related blogs, users are more aware of what is out there in terms of new and upcoming in fashion as well as able to connect with their celebrities of choice and their taste.

We find social networking websites like Facebook and Twitter as vital outlets to get the word out about products, sales, new arrivals and so forth. It’s also a very good way to simply get a company’s name out, and collaborations with various fashion and beauty blogs help do this as well.

At what point in your marketing strategy did you incorporate social media – is it considered from the beginning, or do you find ways to fit it in later?

We had social media part of our marketing strategy from get go. We have been on the other side of the fence learning about latest trends via those channels, so it was no-brainer to add that to our strategy as well.

Posh Fusion has collaborated with a few bloggers. How did that happen? How was your experience?

If upon browsing the web we stumbled on a blogger who we’d be interested to join forces
with, we simply got in touch with them via email and communicated from there. We also were approached by a few and provided feedback as well as future direction on where we going with the site. Overall experience has been great, some better than others, but you have to remember, when you are dealing with a blogger, along comes a personality and everyone is different.

How do you decide which blog/blogger to work with? Is there a criteria?

We decided based on their interest, writing topics previously done, writing style, and definitely personality. It has been a great learning experience to work with people you never knew in person but exist in the online world, but are very capable and have the ability to create a major impact on readers.

Has blogger collaborations made a difference to your company's growth?

We would say, somewhat an impact, because we can see traffic increase based on blog sites as we track clicks. To say we have realized the growth, we are not quite there yet.

Do you have any tips for bloggers looking to engage with brands? How can they make themselves more attractive to brands?

Yes! What we think makes bloggers more attractive to brands is displaying a fervent passion for what you blog about. It’s appealing to see bloggers write detailed, well-thought out posts that display interest about a broad range of topics within their forte as well. For example, it’s very cool to see beauty or clothing hauls with nice photographs of the products and details about each one- the experience purchasing it online, how the package arrived, how it felt trying it on, etc. And it never hurts to have a nice web design that’s clear, concise and easy to navigate. Aesthetically pleasing layouts immediately catch the eye and are attention-grabbing, too!

Any entrepreneurial tip or mantra you would like to share with our readers?

Entrepreneurship – Imagine and really believe that you were born with too much Awesomeness – and you that you were born to win, but to be a winner, you must plan to win, prepare to win, and expect to win. Be Optimistic and go touch the skies!
