Blogging 101

How to avoid Blogging Blunders
Author: Masoom from Style Fiesta

Here are a few points to keep in mind so you don’t make it on the ‘Danger Blogger’ radar. Frankly – I wish I had this on hand when I just started blogging.

1. Don’t spam

This is the number 1 rule of blogging. Pasting your link on every fashion related facebook page you find is not going to make you any more stylish than you are.

2. Credit

Always credit images and data to their original source. If you think you can use someone else’s image and get away with it, you’re probably right, but how would you feel if someone did that with your work?

3. Appreciate other bloggers

If someone is doing good work – appreciate it. The blogger committee all over the world is extremely supportive and we’re looking to keep it that way. Competition undoubtedly exists, but lets keep it healthy!

4. Respond to your readers

It’s fantastic if you can strike positive and constant relations with your readers but if you cant go to that extent, its basic blogger etiquette to respond to them. This could be through emails, blog comments or facebook comments. A simple ‘Thank you’ is satisfactory.

‘Please leave a comment’ notes are an absolute no! Comments matter when they are genuine so pleading your readers for comments is absolutely pointless

6. Be consistent

Irregular blogs are like unreliable friends. You never know when they’re around, and when they aren’t. Be regular. You might not realize it but your readers as well as your image depend on your consistency.

7. Check your grammar. Thrice.

Using elaborate words is impressive but doing it while you can’t differentiate between your ‘you’re’ and ‘your’ is not acceptable. Keep it simple!
